Since 1988 when I first stepped on the ice in Canada to realize my passion for teaching and love of hockey, I have been privileged and grateful for the opportunity to meet and develop relationships with many of my students and their families. It is a great joy to me to witness their long journey of pursuing their dreams and being determined to reach their goals. Seeing them being drafted, playing in the NHL, receiving scholarships or just getting better at what they love to do fills me, as a teacher, with happiness and makes so much sense of what I set out to do.
In my opinion, the secret of teaching and developing children is to give them confidence, encouragement, love and respect. Most of all, they should have the belief in the utmost beauty of who they are no matter what their level or age is. With these simple things, they will respond by performing the most challenging hockey tasks. They will also do it with that joyful smiles and much more enthusiasm! I simply love it. To all my students and their families I say: Thank you for what you became… My ultimate teachers.
